Thanyaburi Mac
I am aware that the IATA www site says valid for the period of stay, but I'd like to see a cite from the Thai government, such as from Thai Immigration. Anyone have such? At least this one says the same: Ah, here's one: http://www.thaiembassy.se/visa/general-information Your passport must be valid during your stay in Thailand. We do strongly recommend that your passport has a validity of at least 6 months. Mac
groovyc
I remember a mate got "detained" for exactly this : having less than six months validity on arrival. This was back in 2006-7. A senior officer from a Thai govt dept managed to get him out.
ubonjoe
I think the IATA info is correct. You have to check the info since it depends upon of the nationality of the person entering the country. For those from some countries it is 6 months. The embassy in Stockholm is posting info that is correct for Swedish citizens. What I have found is that the rule for length of stay applies to most people that are on the visa exempt scheme. But those on a bilateral agreement for exempt entries may need 6 months to enter the country. For example those from Laos need 6 months passport validity. Quote National Lao People's Dem. Rep. (LA) Embarkation Lao People's Dem. Rep. (LA) Destination Thailand (TH) Thailand (TH) Passport required. - Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the arrival date. - Passengers with an emergency or a temporary passport. Visa required, except for Nationals of Lao People's Dem. Rep. for a maximum stay of 30 days.

You just need enough room for the entry and departure stamps. If is up to you to determine the number of pages needed for your trip.
