In a project to give low-income earners a New Year's gift of cash, the Ministry of Finance said that, of the 8.3 million people who registered for the money, some of them are dead, rich, or not even Thai.

Finance Secretary-General Somchai Sujjapongse said the payday will have to be postponed for now as the ministry has to check all 8.3 million names who registered for the one-time sum of money.

The rule is that people who earn less than THB30,000 per year can receive THB3,000, transferred their bank accounts, as a one-time gift from the government, while those with an annual salary of less than THB100,000 can receive THB1,500.

The wealthy, zombies and foreigners...bunch of greedy &@#$@*!#, the lot of them.

Get them out now...

Mind, regarding the claim the rich are claiming this 'bonus', are those behind this scheme seriously saying earning over 100,000 baht a year makes you rich?

No One should be surprised ,the Government handing money out,

you just know there is going to be corruption involved,it's a given.

Inside job?

Well I am gob smacked. What a surprise...

Earning less than 30.000 bht per year,  no wonder the dead are applying ............................................:coffee1:

Three questions, are you rich? No. Are you Thai? yes. Are you dead? No. 1000 baht a question, show me the money.

Will it ever be revealed how many civil servants involved in administering the scheme are complicit ?

So much for populist policies being a thing of the past.

That's why they're poor, probably up to their ears in debt!

Again, greed raises it's ugly head, is there no morality whatsoever with these grubs?

well a lot of the rich don't declare the salary correctly, which makes them eligible for the hand out. On top of that, many think if they don't take the hand out, it will end up in the governments own pockets which is also true.

"But sir" Somchai explained, My salary is over 500,000 Baht per year, but I only actually earn  50,000 of it.

Take my name off of the list I will be dead by the time you check 8 million people. 10% of the population really? Of course some of the elite wanted a piece of action.

Sounds like a Jeopardy question.

Corruption  does not exist  in Thailand,  it  is the land of milk  and honey.

Come  on,  don't any of you believe me?  Hey  you give me 2000 baht

I vote for you, cause you must be a good guy..

Geezer

Is this populist or for the ' good of the people, returning happiness ' etc ?

Same same but different if the junta does it.

Its a world wide phenomenon. If not for credit everything would be in the minus column and 10 year old cars would be in demand. Its a party enjoy it while you can.
