KASIKORNBANK has taken another step to strengthen its private banking business by positioning itself as a real estate adviser to the hi-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).

The new land and building tax bill provides an opportunity for the bank to move into this advisory role because hi-net-worth customers the bank managed had a lot of land and these were hidden assets that should bear fruit, said Jirawat Supornpaibul, head of the private banking business and executive vice president.

He said the bank would officially inform the Bank of Thailand about the real estate advisory service as it believed that the central bank regulating the service would lift its overall standard.

Hidden assets can no longer be hidden?

Probably would all be broken up in bits of Bt50m value. That's why they need advisory services...

Well, they won't be getting my business as I'm considered a High Not Worth Individual.

For starters the KBank should set up representative offices nearby military officer's HQ's, senior provincial police headquarters, upper floors of government departmental offices and politicians offices. But there is a risk attached. Bank staff could be trampled in the rush.

I marvel at how announcements from Thai companies are either filled with hyperbole or completely opaque ... often both.  Why even bother making an announcement?  Do Thai's accept this kind of thing as meaningful news?

The keyword is 'Hidden'. And the announcement is to flush out those of high worth but remained hidden and unknown...

forcing each Farang to put 3 million baht in Thai banks to get foreign currency  and now selling properties to raise cash.

sounds like the banks are trying to raise cash.
