Brothers in south con public out of 300K after finding ID card

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: -- Two tricky brothers opened bank accounts with a Thai ID card they found then used the accounts to fleece the public in a Facebook sales scam.

 

The fraud was uncovered when the person who had lost the ID card - Panthaya Srikhan, 35, was contacted by Nakorn Srithammarat police on a warrant, reported Daily News.

 

But he told police he had done nothing.

 

The crime had been committed by Ekaluck Phuangsamphao, 33, and his 19 year old brother named only as "Kai", it was later discovered.

The pair had opened four bank accounts with they card they found at Sichon Hospital. 

 

They then enticed people to send them money for goods that they never supplied. In all they stole 300,000 baht with their Facebook scam over about three months.

 

They were both detained for prosecution in the matter.

I've always thought Thais looked alike...I guess Thais think so too...

Why? An ID card is a valid kind of complete identification, if the bank checks the picture etc.

 

You need more then one I.D. only, if you are living in an underdeveloped country, like the USA, where they do not have an ID card.
