Man Dies in Charcoal Incinerator

Featured Replies

A farmer from Koh Kong province’s Mondol Seima district was burned to death in his charcoal incinerator yesterday after falling in and landing on hot coals, an official said.  Bak Klang commune police chief Loem Thy told Khmer Times yesterday that before the incident happened Monday morning, Ly Savoeun, 56, had walked to his incinerators, which are about five kilometers from his house, to take charcoal to sell.

“On that day, the victim’s wife told our police officers that after she could not find her husband for the whole morning and she called him by phone, but no one picked up the call,” Mr. Thy said.  “Then she decided to walk to the charcoal incinerators to find her husband. Unfortunately, she found her husband’s burned corpse inside the incinerator.

“Our first guess is that the victim was burned to death after falling inside his incinerator while some charcoal was still burning, because outside the incinerator there was some charcoal which had been taken out.”
