ICRC provides budget to Sea Search and Rescue Project

 

BANGKOK, 15 December 2016 (NNT) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has compiled a budget towards the Sea Search and Rescue Project in six southern provinces affected by tsunami to develop the capability of volunteers in helping maritime disaster victims. 

The Thai Red Cross Society has received budgetary support from Norwegian Red Cross, Swedish Red Cross and Finnish Red Cross to restore and prepare communities at risk of maritime disasters to be ready to provide immediate assistance in case of an emergency. 

The objective is to strengthen the community in preparation for emergencies and disasters by developing the potentials of volunteers, who are key personnel tasked with providing initial aid to disaster victims.
