Officials raided an illegal radio station belonging to an ex-Pheu Thai MP

 

 

BANGKOK: -- A combined force of military personnel, police, local officials and officials from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission raided a broadcasting station of a former Pheu Thai MP in Lamphun province on Thursday.

 

The broadcasting station is located on house No 66/3, Village 7, Tambon Rimping, Muang district of Lamphun belonging to Mr Sudkhet Pongmanee, former MP of the Pheu Thai party. It has been broadcasting at 92.15 megahertz bandwidth under the name of “Khon Muang Lamphun Pheu Singwadlom” (Lamphun People for Environment).

Most of Thailand comes across as having to please the military.  The future of Thailand will be one military one vote.

 

It is customary to have a permit when broadcasting, but in say that, Thailand's draconian radio laws are not in line with any country in the world.  WiFi is way over regulated and other widely used frequencies are not available.  Wireless development happens in other countries, NOT Thailand.

I have 5 G at my house, now. Fast speed. 

6 G will be installed, next Thursday.    3 hour movie, download in one second.  Video calls are far away as Mars.

there are three items listed as illegal to bring into Thailand on a big red sign as you wait for your luggage at the airport in BKK. This is before you go through customs.

 

1.)Drugs

2.)Fire Arms

3.) Radios. Receivers or transmitters.

 

10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

 

I have a big background in radio communications and it is something I had to give up when I moved to Thailand. The governments fear of their own people having advanced technology to monitor police and military communications holds the whole country back.

After years of living here the line really gets blurred between legal and illegal. Maybe a beer will put things in perspective.
