Visa Run - Cambodia

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I am currently on a non b extension of stay until January 13th 2017; however as I am moving jobs I am sure my current work permit will be cancelled very shortly and thus my extension of stay will be void. I can't negotiate times with my current employer to cancel it at a certain date as they aren't willing to co-operate.

Anyway I was looking into doing a visa run to Cambodia as it seems more cost and time efficient then to Laos however I have just been told on the phone that border runs to Cambodia are not guaranteed, I'm not sure if this is because the lady wanted to up sell me the Laos package or if there's any truth to this; could anybody confirm this?

I'm guessing I must inform immigration before I go to cancel my extension of stay.

Does anyone also know any decent visa run services in the Pattaya area to Cambodia.

I wouldn't use visa services, you best doing it yourself, far cheaper, less drama and more flexible .

Savanakhet penang or phnom penh pending on visa required and your travel preference. cambo potentially slow/hassle .

for people give you best advice what visa you after and what passport you travelling on .

You will need a termination letter to cancel  letter to cancel your extension. I you go to immigration few days before the date on it they will postdate the extension to that date. If you resigned from you job immigration might accept it instead of the termination letter.

You can cancel your work permit yourself by submitting a cancellation form to the work permit office.

Doing it the correct way instead of just leaving the country can prevent problems later.

Thanks for the response. Essentially I am between 2 jobs at the moment with the current place not wanting to play ball.

I haven't officially quit yet nor have they fired me but I haven't been going into work as they are refusing to hand my permit back or acknowledge my notice. Originally I said I would them out till the 31st but they are really making my life hell so the other school have offered me to start training with them on Tuesday and get paid daily.

Anyways that aside I guess I technically still "in work", my extension of stay is open till the 13th Jan and I don't think job 1 will cancel my work permit as of yet. Would me cancelling the permit myself then notifying immigration of this be sufficient or will I need to obtain a termination letter (which I will not get 100%).

Also will having no termination letter be of any hindrance at a land border even if I've correctly cancelled my own permit / Extension.

Sorry for the long message but I feel so trapped at the moment with very little funds!

You will have no problem if your extension has been canceled.

Immigration is not concerned about the work permit.
