Hi,

I need to go to immigration at Chaengwattana on Tuesday. I need to do the following:

1) Copy Non O visa from old passport to new passport (British passports).

2) Apply for 12 month extension of stay based on Non O Visa.

I have done 12 month extension many times, so know the score, however I've never done the copying of Visa from old passport to new. Logic would dictate to do (1) first and then (2). However I'm trying to avoid having to queue twice as it can take up best part of the day just to do process (2) based on previous experience.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do both processes at the same desk/with the same officer?

I begin to lose the will to live whenever I go to that place so any accurate advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

I have done it in one go but it will be down to the officer/office.

Do you have a 'this passport is real*'  from the Embassy too?

(*Mickey-Mouse authentication slip serving no real purpose but required by many IOs before they'll tx anything!)

I did the process last week in Khon Kaen, I would imagine to be the same process.

They had their own form to fill in and didn't want the one from the embassy.

They indicate with a stamp the original "O" visa issued, the last entry in old passport of the last  entry to Thailand and the date of the expiry of the current extension.

Another stamp with the last entry to Thailand.

Another stamp with the current extension.

Another stamp stating the date this was all done on.

Another stamp of the current re entry permit.

The end

Actually I've just realised that I also need to get a Multiple Re-entry permit too.

Can I also do this at the same time even though that when I submit the application for a 12 month extension to stay that the application will be 'under consideration' for 30 days or do I have to wait until the 30 days is over and the extension issued before I apply for the re-entry permit?

I need to fly overseas inn2 weeks time. Will I be able to do this whilst the 12 month extension is 'under consideration'?

Thanks.

You cannot get a multiple re-entry until you get the one year extension stamp. You will need to get a single re-entry permit for the under consideration  period that will be valid up to the report back date.

PLUS 200 Baht please, when I did the same about 6 weeks ago at Khon Kaen. I know I was being ripped off because EVERYONE else that had to make any sort of payment was sent to Desk #3 and given a receipt. Lack of time and the fact they were really busy stopped me from complaining. Easy come easy go I guess.......

Another question please ......

When I go to transfer my Non O visa from old passport to new tomorrow (as well as applying for my annual 12 month extension to stay) I have already photocopied all the pages in my old 48 page British passport, do I need to photocopy all 48 blank pages of my brand new unused passport?

Thanks.

You only need copies of pages that have anything for Thailand in your old passport. Onty the photo page of the new passport.

After they do the stamp transfer you will then need copies of those pages for the extension application.

Apologies, I was under the impression that one year extensions for retirement were processed the same day.   Is there a 30 day wait now?

He is the one that mentioned the 30 days so he apparently is on an extension based upon marriage.

There are a couple of offices that have put an extension based upon retirement under consideration for 30 days.

Thanks again,  UbonJoe.  Any idea if Nakhon Phanom is taking 30 days for first retirement extension?
