I have some documents (about 40 pages) that need to be translated asap. Also, ideas on how much it would cost?

Theres a lady in Soi 23 for 300b per page, probably will do a deal for 40 pages though.

A caveat for translations -

Remember quality control and references - if possible, have them translate a section/half a page (should be free or provided at low cost) and then get the translation checked by an educated Thai speaker, or by a person from the target group, to see if the translation reads well and makes sense - the hallmark of a good translation is that it does not feel 'translated' but will read as if originally written in Thai. Also ask questions to check that there is nothing added or removed, and that the meaning is expressed clearly and unambiguously.

Thais in general have a great deal of respect for people who can write formal, elaborate and flowery Thai, which is all good and well, but getting the message across is number one - sometimes formal texts come across as very muddled to the average reader. It is not just a matter of it sounding beautiful, it has to mean something as well.

Anyone can claim to be a translator, a very low rate is often (although not necessarily) an indication of somebody who is either not very good, or lacks formal education.

I checked out a couple of language schools with translation services and P/T translators, but so far no luck. I need someone with engineering background (with very good understanding of Englihs) to ensure that its properly translated

I've just had a load of stuff translated for a Permanent Residency application. I didn't arrange it myself, but the translator (and there are a lot of them) is in the area near the British Embassy, the Ploenchit/Witayu intersection. I was quoted around 400 an A4 sheet.
