HONG KONG, 19 December 2016 (NNT) – Elementary school children from Thailand have won two gold medals, one bronze medal and three special prizes from Hong Kong International Student Innovative Invention 2016 (HKISIIC 2016) held on 15-18 December 2016.

The Office of Basic Education Commission (OBEC) sent three student teams contesting HKISIIC 2016 and all have won medals.

One of the gold medals was won with the invention of a foam-catching pot lid by elementary school children from Narathiwat province. It can keep the boiling water from overflowing from the lid and damaging the stove. This invention also won Special Awards from Indonesia.

The other gold medal was won with the invention of an opener for various types of bottles and jars. The invention was designed by elementary school children from Pathum Thani province. This invention also won Special Awards from Macau.

The bronze medal was won with the invention of a multi-purpose wiper by elementary school children from Pattani province. The wiper dispenses some solution to clean whiteboards. This invention also won Special Awards from Indonesia.

OBEC senior expert Panida Wichaidit said HKISIIC 2016 was an international competition for elementary school students from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand, with 85 innovations submitted for the contests.

She said this was the first year for Thai youths to have participated in such international contests.

Great job done by kids , teachers, and the parents, who helped.

there you go all those self nominated experts complaining about the education system falling behind.
Gold Medals, no less, so everything's all right with the school system, isn't it.
