Regional management of water resources upgraded

BANGKOK, 20 December 2016 (NNT) - The Department of Local Administration has cooperated with local administrative organizations to improve the management of water resources regionally.

Speaking during the daily program ‘Thailand Moves Forward,’ Director-General of the Department of Local Administration Jarin Jakkapak said his department had bolstered regional water management by involving public participation. Public views and needs will be used as a basis for the development of the water management plan.

Jarin cited a town hall meeting in Chanthaburi as an example of the Department of Local Administration’s endeavor to get local people involved. Provincial authorities were present at the meeting, which was held in Thep Nimit district, to survey the needs and problems of local people.

The authorities then sought cooperation from various agencies including the Ministry of Interior to satisfy public demand and solve people's problems.

They need to upgrade the people who Manage the water system. Not the water System.

Their idea of releasing water from the dams; is to take longer showers.
