BANGKOK: -- A police doctor involved in a high profile case that captivated the Thai public in 2011 is thought to have finally been captured after hiding in Myanmar.

Dr Suphat Laohawatana, was originally wanted in connection with the disappearance of two Petchaburi workers. He denied being involved but was handed a five year sentence in Petchaburi in 2011 for the theft of a car belonging to Samart Numjui and his wife Orasa Kertsap who had been missing since 2009.

He was also convicted of hiring illegal foreign workers under human trafficking legislation, reports Daily News.

Dr Suphat was granted bail while an appeal was heard but he fled justice.

Daily News reported that the fugitive doctor was arrested Tuesday in Myanmar. The newspaper said they were waiting on confirmation from the national Thai police that he had indeed been detained.

Dr Suphat was a physician at the Police Hospital.

Guilty people, arrested ,sentenced by the courts, given bail,

will do a runner, especially if they have a bob or two,the courts

seem to know this, maybe they are just interested in  the forfeited

bail money.

Something is terribly wrong with criminals, convicted  or suspect that are

making bail to do a runner at anytime they wish, are the police in this this

business just to win the forfeited bail money or to bring people to justice

I wonder.....

"Famous police doctor fugitive" "rumored arrested" :)

Must be competing for headline of the year with another thread:

"a girl has gone online to warn people"

:clap2:

For the money of course...   TIT

If I managed to get five years  for stealing a car , that  was in place of the death penalty for killing 2 people , I would walk to the prison and say thank you very much.

He would have been out in 2 years.

What a dingleberry.

Be granted bail tomorrow

BP now says the Myanmar police have now officially handed the fled felon over to the RTP at a border crossing.

Next - hope soon they capture and severely punish the man and women who regularly poured boiling water over the young hilltribe girl.

"Trust me. I'm a doctor". It seems these doctors can be nasty bits of work.

How can someone been sentenced and yet given bail??

Sure there something very wrong with their systems..

This is Thailand, nothing is straightforward here.
