Chaiyaphum Police Dept sells local rice to police officers

CHAIYAPHUM, 27 December 2016 (NNT) - The Chaiyaphum Police Department has organized a farmer assistance program by selling rice at 25 baht per kilogram, with a goal of selling rice to all police officers totaling 25 tons of rice.

Chaiyaphum Governor Chusak Treesan along with Acting Commissioner of the Chiayaphum Police Department Pol Col Sompoch Khomprang officiated at the program to sell a total of 25 tons of rice at 29 police stations in the province at 25 baht per kilogram.

Pol Col Sompoch said the program is the first of its kind designed to assist local farmers who are currently suffering from the price slump. The program will offer rice at a fair market price and spare farmers from having to go through a middleman.

Meanwhile, police officers will benefit from being able to purchase rice at an affordable price. The program is expected to reduce household costs of police officers by a sum of 250,000 baht per month.
