i have 3 very big and tall palm trees in my garden and the roots are starting to cause problems going under the patio area and i need to get the trees taken out. any ideas ????

cut them down?

palm tree  roots are  not invasive  like  normal  tree  roots, which  is  why i  asked  for  a photo so  i can  see which palm it  is

Cut it down and dig up the invasive roots.

Then the problem is solved already. Cut it down. I was being a bit sarcastic.

Yes, it's a no brainer.

We had four tall coconut palms in the yard taken down.  I was mainly worried about me, or the grandkids, being whopped on the noggin and by the coconuts, did have some near misses.

Quite a job, started with one of the workers scaling the palm then going over the green fronds to the top and cutting them out.  Scary looking from the ground side view. Then a rope tied on to help guide the fall when the cut was made at the base.

In the YouTube version of this story, the next thing that happens isn't good for the guy tugging on the rope, or that roof he's under, or the guy who's perched precariously over that spiked fence.

Yeah, but it hurts just watching one of those Russian YouTube fail compilations.

This one could rate right up there.

I have six tall (3-5 m) royal palms, beautiful plants, no coconut hassles and nice shade on the terraces. About 2 m from house, no root problems at all. Have a number of other palms, note show surface root problems.

Yeah, not likely to have rood damage from palms unless they are right up against the structure.
