In a Thai / USA or Thai / UK legal marriage and the father is the person having citizenship that was passed to the children, the children are younger than 16. The passports are valid for 5 years. If the citizen dies and the child's passport requires to be renewed after the fathers death, how does the Thai mother go about doing that?

Here is the process for renewing a child's (ages 0-15) US passport at the US Embassy in Bangkok:

To make things easier for your wife it would be possible I imagine to download and fill in (to the extent possible) the DS-11 application before it is needed.  It may also be possible to download and fill in the DS-3053 (permission from parent not appearing in person) before it is needed.  I imagine in the event of your death, your wife would need to provide a death certificate in order to renew your child's US passport.  The reason being that it takes both parents of a child to renew the child's passport.  I guess you could give your permission in advance (not sure how far in advance it would be considered valid though), or your wife would need to present documentation (i.e., a death certificate) to account for you not appearing at the appointment.

Hope this helps.
