CDC Chairman thanks members of the press for helping communicate new charter to public

BANGKOK, 3 January 2017 (NNT) - The Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Commission has thanked members of the media for helping communicate the contents of the new charter to the public.

CDC Chairman Meechai Ruchuphan has expressed his gratitude for the press’s close cooperation with the charter drafters in helping Thai people understand the new Constitution and for providing opinions gathered from the people about the new draft, which have been used in the drafting process.

Concerning the National Reform Steering Assembly’s proposal for media reform, Mr. Meechai said that he has not received this draft reform law but believes that such a process is needed.

He added that, if the media doesn't want outsiders to implement an overhaul, all involved should start the change themselves.

Mr. Meechai went on to say that, as many media organizations have been working on media reform, a conclusion should be drawn and presented to the National Legislative Assembly to compare with the NRSA’s suggested law.

The press are a fine bunch of people so long as they obey the commands of the military government. They need to be thanked when they do as they are told.

This old warhorse comes from a time when direct threats were the answers not veiled ones.
