There's many websites offering online visa applications. Do American's or European's need a pre-approved tourist visa prior to arrival in Vietnam. Can a tourist visa be obtained on arrival a Vietnam's airports?

Some Europeans get 15 days visa exempt on arrival.

 

Others have to have either a visa from an embassy / consulate or what you call a 'pre-approved visa' assuming that means the letter for visa on arrival?

 

 

Different rules for Europeans and Americans.

 

Based on everything I've read thus far:

American tourists = No.
