Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could help, I have met a girl (N) that is trying to get a tourist visa for Italy, we went to the Italian Consulate in BKK today and she was told that becuase she has no job in Thailand then N stands no chance of getting a tourist visa despite the fact that she has an Italian sponsor who will be paying all costs, N has all the documents that are required. The women at the consulate told her straight out that she didnt think that she would return to Thailand. N has no intentions of staying on in Italy.

The rules are pretty confusing and when N asked the woman behind the counter to explain why she was being refused and what could be done she was just told to leave.....anyone else had a similar experience with the Italian consulate?

Are there any ways of getting around the system.?

Thanks in advance for any help, just ask if you need more details.

As we already knew, it's VERY difficult for a single Thai woman to get a visa for Europe, the US, or Japan. The sentence I quoted above was the reason she didn't get her visa. So, having an Italian sponsor couldn't gaurantee she would come back to Thailand. Being unemployed definitely made it harder too. In order to convince the Embassy that she was coming back home, she would need to provide as much of proof as possible that she has got duties, obligations here. That would be family, work, etc. Hope you can see now why her application was turned down.

As a member once said..

Getting a visa is as much an art as a science.

isnt Italy a member of Schengen?

in that case, be her guaratee, reservation for flight tickets and try another country, the nearest neighbor. She can travel inside Schengen with a 1 entry visa.

or?

Italy IS a difficult country :o

The only way to get a visa is to be married to an Italian man! :D

Unless your GF has the above mentioned documents that indicates her return to Thailand!
