Twenty seven illegal Cambodians being driven to Bangkok by a 16 year old

SA KAEO: -- Police and soldiers who intercepted two pick-ups carrying illegal foreign workers in Sa Kaeo were astonished to find one of the drivers was only 16 years old.

The authorities said that 27 Cambodians were jammed into the back of the pick-up being driven by the boy named only as Sing".

He was headed for Bangkok where the workers - all illegals without papers - would be found jobs by an investor behind the scheme, reports Thairath.

Another pick-up driven by Noparat Somsak, 46, was also stopped. This contained 17 Cambodian illegals.

Police in Khok Sung district near the border said that all 44 workers had been picked up near the border having crossed with no papers and were bound for jobs in Bangkok and surrounding areas.

The two arrested Thais said they were just drivers. Police are expanding the enquiry to try and find out who was behind the operation.

"The two arrested Thais said they were just drivers. Police are expanding the inquiry to try and find out who was behind the operation. "

It was the 16 year old.  He is behind the whole caper.  Case closed.  Time for lunch.

Why should this story be so remarkable? This is Thailand; 25 in a pick-up is an unnoteworthy practice. A 16 year old driver is perhaps a little unexpected but not unusual. What will be truly surprising is if the police catch Mr. Big.

Guinness book of records

Says so much that the astonishing fact is the age of the driver.

Investor, nice soft new name for human trafficker. Scum!

Were they on a motorcycle?

They most certainly know who the fixer is as he has most likely already had to payoff the border cops to make the crossing. that's already been proven to have been happening for years.

But they must play dumb at first in case the fixer is very highly connected.

A Thai neighbour crammed 22 into a Honda Jazz - admittedly some were children.

Sounds like a thriving business for some people. Good catch and keep it up.

Actually you see almost that many around our way quite often as the farm labourers are transported around.

Four boards across the back of the pick up, 4 sitting on each board. Repeat the four boards overhead on the metal cage, double decker effect, which gives 32 in the pickup bed itself.

Plain sailing to get another 8 in the cabin.

Possibly he can stay awake longer being only 16 and also to young to drink?? Definitely a labor shortage here.
