TOT Hacked?

Featured Replies

It looks like the TOT servers have been subject to a cyber attack - can someone confirm this?

And it was running odd last night

I just tried their "live chat" but that jammed up after I got a "hi"

Still down for me also.

Looks like TOT is down all over Thailand :-(

TOT Fiber is down here in Bang Sarey, must be a DNS problem since I get a connection but an error message:  No Internet

TV is not available and the only web site I can access is SCB online......must be because it is a local site ?

Using my laptop with DTAC 4G to post this

Another thread is also reporting that TOT Fiber is down

I tried about 0200 with no luck, and still out now. I'm tethered to my cell/dtac for now.

Confirm: down in Jomtien too

Down for me too on TOT Fibre, Thalang Phuket. Down since 02:00 this morning.

TOT Was down for me in Na-Jomtien too  (looked like DNS server problem )    but its back again in the last few minutes.

TOT fibre was definitely UP in northern BKK when I left home at 5.30 this morning, but I cannot contact my server now, so I suspect it is now down.

Wifey will not be happy if Line isn't working.

EDIT @ 08.30 now working :)

Just because the internet is down doesn't usually mean they were hacked. It's possible, but more likely a hardware problem.

I called TOT this morning due to the outage.  They told me that an undersea cable has been cut in the south of Thailand, resulting in the outage.  I can only get online using my AIS phone as a mobile Hotspot.   No idea when TOT service will resume.

Tell the OP, not me.

Ahh the old "undersea cable excuse"  used for every occasion :P

up and running 5minutes ago.so far it seem ok.

Undersea cable should not effect to getting a ADSL PPP connection from the local Phuket TOT hub.

Who knows?  But it was a TOT representative who told me.  Is it any more reliable than rank speculation?  Time will tell.

Edit:  now working for me too.  I guess the undersea cable has been repaired.  So efficient!

Probably the initial test run of the Single Gateway. Total success!

I'll get my coat ...

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

This tweet suggested a problem between Bangkok and Hat Yai.

It makes sense in case local Phuket DHCP server is dependent of Bangkok assistance. Also some outgoing international fibers go out that way.

Sinet also lost internet last night.. Thailands in the middle of floods and major storms, assuming its a hack based on no data seems a vivid leap of imagination IMO.

My TOT was down last night and until about 08.30 but now seems to be working perfectly. I am South of Chiang Mai. I don't know where else in the Country there has been a problem or not.

Called TOT around 6am this morning to report the absence of internet. After waiting on hold for 7 minutes I was informed that there were cable problems in the south, due to massive flooding and heavy rains. Their techies were trying to sort out the problem - try again later.....

As like for others, thing were almost normal again around 8:30am.

Don't scare us like that.

It was down for me this morning but up and running OK now.

It was loading pages in bytes late last night, this morning

not working at all, switching the router on and off, unplugging,

cables, then when it finally works, see it's off for everyone.

hope they are not fiddling about setting up the one gateway !

regards worgeordie

Maybe the Pattaya to Hua Hin ferry cut thru the underseas cable ?? ?

Well, as I arrived in the office before 8.30 am, my Thai Accounting Manager notified me, that internet not working,..... but then around 8.45 am it was okay again......
