Single Entry Tourist Visa Kuala Lumpur @ January 2017 report

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

We just got two single entry 60 day tourist visas in Kuala Lumpur.

I have read a lot of bad reviews on Google Maps and in this forum before about the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, so I thought it would be valuable to tell my experiences.

I followed the checklist that is available on their website:

  • 1. Completed visa application form.
  • 2. Original passport valid not less than 6 months. It should contain at least 1 blank visa page.
  • 3. Copy of passport (information page).
  • 4. Photo in passport size (white / blue background taken within the past 6 months).
  • 5. Copy of confirmed/reservation return ticket. In case of using personal vehicle (copy of registration of vehicle and copy of identity card/ passport of the owner of vehicle) must be provided.
  • 6. Copy of hotel booking for the whole length of your stay in Thailand. In case of stay at house (copy of house agreement, invitation letter and copy of identity card/passport of the owner) must be provided.

For the return flight we rented a 48 hour flight on https://flyonward.com/en/

For the Hotel Booking we adjusted the receipt of an airbnb booking we had anyway so it were for the whole length of the stay.

We were a bit worried because one of the passports was only a few days above the minimum validity of 6 months.

We got their early at 9:30 (they open at this hour) but there was already a long line outside. We waited aprox. 30 minutes and than submitted all documents as requested.

We returned the next day, at 14:30 and there was again a big line outside. This time we just had to wait arround 10 minutes and got our passports back with the two visas.

Circumstances: German and Spanish Passport. One Visa on Arrival inside the same passport. Another Visa on Arrival but inside a different Passport (Not sure if they have their own records). Both Visa on Arrival have been extended for another 30 days. And as I said: One of the passports had only a bit more over 6 months left of validity (6 months + a few days)

Useful info, thanks for sharing

Thank you for your report.

Just to clarify, I assume by "visa on arrival" you mean visa exempt entry. Further, you do not mention any previous tourist visas in the passports, so presumably this was your first tourist visa application. Correct? Did you travel directly from Thailand to Kuala Lumpur after your visa exempt entry to apply for the visas? I have noted that a few consulates create problems if you do this.
