That just wouldn't happen in a pub in UK, or much of the world, I imagine, be it a US inauguration or a local newly-elected Prime Minister. I'm reminded of being in a Chiang Mai pub full of people gawping at the Live broadcast of the funeral of Lady Di on the TV. Strangely(?), plenty of the customers were American, and since business was so good (those cups of tea and milk shakes add up) the owner invited every one back for the Mother Teresa send-off the following week, but no-one showed up!!
