webfact
Phet Kasem highway inbound to Bangkok reopens to traffic PRACHUAB KHIRI KHAN: -- The Phet Kasem highway to 14 southern provinces which was completely closed to traffic for over 12 hours after two bridges in Bang Saphan district of Prachuab Khiri Khan were badly damaged by recent flooding will be completely reopened to traffic as of 6 am on Wednesday. Mr Supote Sermsak, chief of Prachuab Khiri Khan highway office, said Tuesday that two Bailey bridges had been sent to Ban Wang Yao, Tambon Thongmongkol and Ban Nong Yaplong to replace the two damaged bridges. He expected the installation of the Bailey bridges on both inbound and outbound to be fully completed early Wednesday morning and and reopened to traffic as of 6 am. He said officials would be stationed at the two sites to prevent overloading trucks from using the Bailey bridges which may damage the bridges. At about 10.00 PM, highway officials already installed the Bailey bridges inbound to Bangkok and reopened to traffic. But the traffic to the south is still closed.
