January 11, 20179 yr Tourism board pushes for standardized tourism businesses BANGKOK, 11 January 2017 (NNT) – The National Tourism Policy Committee approved the creation of standard manuals and conditions for tourism businesses. The National Tourism Policy Committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapragon approved the proposal for tourism standardization through the creation of the conditions and manuals under the Basic Thai Tourism Standards and an agreement between the Department of Tourism and tour agencies to improve the quality of tourism services and products. Three subcommittees were established to drive forward the second national tourism strategy. Agencies related to marine safety were urged to strictly provide safety protection to tourists, especially during high season and to regulate motorcycle rentals in the same manner as jet ski rentals. Besides, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports was assigned to host meetings to exchange views about tourist safety measures. -- nnt 2017-01-11
