BANGKOK: -- Prayut calls panel ‘most important mechanism’ for reform, growth and reconciliation.

THE government has unveiled a super-committee to chart the course of national development and reconciliation over the next 15 years as Thailand aspires to leap from a middle-income to a high-income country.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who chaired yesterday’s meeting with concerned agencies at Government House, said the new body would be responsible for the reform agenda as well as formulation of economic development and reconciliation strategies.

According to Prayut, the super-committee will be the most important mechanism to advance the country over the next 15 years with economic, political and other reforms implemented simultaneously.

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

First, you need a super duper committee of heroes to stop the country from going

backwards before trying to propel it forwards.....

They must have been up all night dreaming that one up!!!!!

The juntas idea of forward is in the opposite direction to every other sane person

How much does it cost in bribes to get on this committee?

This may just pave the way for a Mega Committee!

No doubt this stupor committee will get things back on track in no time...

When all that is really needed is some of the well informed advice from a few members of this forum.

I'm not joking most of what is discussed here is doable and would work, like starting with proper education reforms.

Followed by the Ultra Committee.

Super-committee might be a translation error.

Super  rhymes with Stupor which might be the more appropriate translation.

Stupor is defined as a state of near-unconsciousness or insensibility.

BINGO.

As Ali G once said, 'We is experts''

Oh goody goody.
New laptops to write reports on, new I pads to take notes on, new phones to communicate with the other committee members, fact finding missions, nationwide conferences, the need to go "on the road" to every corner of the country, block bookings of resorts for important meetings, natty jackets to wear, fleets of VIP vans to ferry them around....

The possibilities and benefits are endless. The budget is bound to be generous (these will be important people) and it will have to be managed.

Someone let us know when they achieve anything.

Any panel with Prawit on, and especially a 'reconciliation' or 'reform' one is going to be as much use as a chocolate teapot.

He is not neutral, and many would argue was extremely instrumental in the various protests, anti TS groups over the past decade. If they were serious about this they would select non divisive persons, or at the very least not person who  is divisive as Prawit.

Not even mentioning he was the defense minister in the last Democratic Government.

It's all about that high speed railway track again. Don't they know that the regular single track was washed away in the floods again due to there incompetence.

Amazing it took 2 1/2 years to set up such a vital committee.

Wonder about the salaries? Meeting bonuses? Employing five family members?

I think Junta supremo Prayut serves on at least 40 committees.

Politburo:

"the party is seen as "the vanguard of the people" and from that legitimizes itself to lead the state. In that way, the party officials in the Politburo informally lead the state."

For party read Army

I think this committee should help the Navy with pushing the floodwater in the South.

I doubt they'll be eating packed lunches brought from home or something fetched from the local market!

Look at the ease the Hawaii trip expense questions were simply brushed aside. Money is no object when your one of the chosen ones.

Makes the EU mob look like rank amateurs. This is more on par with FIFA!

There will never ever be any neutrals. No one on that panel will be neutral and therefore any objectivity will be restrained and fit into the rules and norms already established. Any output will also have to fit into that framework.

Innovation, completely fresh looks, unbiased open minds - too dangerous.

educational administrators in on that one too.

And what is to stop the first elected government to succeed the military junta from disbanding the super committee?

These ongoing attempts by the junta to keep a stranglehold on democratically chosen governments is reminiscent of the Lilliputians attempt to constrain the sleeping Gulliver.  And, in the end, just as futile.

You can fool some of the people some of the time and all of the people some of the time.  But not all the people all the time.

Formulate the committee under the Prayut-appointed Senate and no elected government can defund or dissolve it.

Use organic laws passed by Prayut's appointed NLA to give the committee oversight authority of the elected PM.

...and pay royalty money to the guy with the pink Bentley for using his "intellectual???" property. At least payments in ear medicine would be accepted.

Please explain to us mere mortals how "the guy with the pink Bentley" is relevant to yet another proof that this junta plans to stay in power indefinitely are are a bunch of bumbling @****** to boot??

Well if they can lure mr CP in the committee it might be successfull.

Would be nice to see the farmers having a high income so they can buy the farang living there a bottle of Belgium beer.
