Just brought a new fridge and it's a little on the large side for my kitchen, so thinking of storing it outside.

It will be sheltered from the rain obviously, but exposed to ambient temperatures. Anyone see any problems with this ? Higher Electric bills etc ?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Seems a bit inconvenient to me but you wouldn't be the 1st person to do that.  Dust and critters getting into the electronics could be a worry but that can be the case inside as well.

Must admit had not considered that problem. As for inconvenience it will sit in the Thai kitchen so not too bad. It fits inside just looks horrible though !

Also, work something out to ensure the door(s) cannot be opened like at night.  You may be surprised at how clever soi dogs can be at getting into stuff.

In the shade, sheltered from the worst of the rain and it will be fine.

We have one on our upstairs verandah, it doesn't get full sun but otherwise is just sheltered by the roof overhang.

Five years and counting.

We have a large fridge in the house for our eatables, but keep a chest freezer (independently thermostaticly controlled) outside for my beer but don't tell Transam! Just make sure it is shaded from the sun or else the motor will be working overtime.

As said ambient temperature is what most people have in there kitchens and units made for the Thai market normally have that in mind (know Samsung has 3 versions of one model we have based on local conditions - the one sold here for hot areas).  If you running inside with AC the costs for AC would increase so probably nothing gained baht wise).  We have had two large size in outside kitchen for a decade or more without any issues (although the same can not be said for dishwasher - the mice are very fond of eating wires on them).

After thinking about it, if I had a fridge outside and at the rear the gubins are open to rat attack I would buy some fine wire mesh and block it off. Mesh can be shaped easy and wedged in...
