BANGKOK: -- A man suspected of stealing electrical wiring was found dead in a field in the Nong Jork area of Bangkok yesterday.

Police said he was likely electrocuted while he was up a power pole.

Nong Jork police and medics from several foundations found the bloated corpse of 34 year old Klong 12 resident Songsak Saengarun lying next to a power pole , reports Thairath.

The body was covered in black burns and medics assessed he had been dead for at least three days.

Next to the body was a bag containing cutters and wire. The body was found in a field behind the Al Hidayah mosque on Soi Mitr Maitree 6.

Police said that the victim was likely electrocuted while stealing wire. The body was sent for autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

He died at his vocation...a common event in Japan...

Perhaps the poor bloke was trying to cut the power to the mosque whose 5am call to prayer was driving him nuts!

Natural selection at work.

Probably the shrieking racket from the mosque.

Shocking!

Or maybe trying to cut the electricity to the mosque to disable the damned loudspeakers.

In Malaysia there's guys who steal the plumbing fixtures and pipes from the highway rest stops and sell them as scrap metal.

After some years of this, I was ready to do much the same.   Rocket launchers are hard to find!!

He died doing what he loved

yeah we are suppose to believe he died of electrocution in a field and manage d to pull a blanket over himself?

its obviously murder,

Ohm my God - Watt a sad story. Maybe it wasn't his volt.

Dark humour exists and is alive and well on Thai visa. Thank God. I thought I was a member of the salvation army for a minute there.
Wire thief currently deceased shocks nation.

You are a funny lot, if it was a foreigner, especially some daft celebrity, it would be all RIP's and condolences to the family. Only an unknown Thai I suppose.

I had 200 meters  of wire stolen a few years ago. I wonder if it was the same thief. As they say 'the devil turned"

A foreigner stealing wire would get zero RIP, why should thieves get an RIP? In fact they are often beaten to death or burned alive.. Harsh bit true

Caught red handed. There is some justice in the world afterall.

All thieves come down to Earth sooner or later.

Shocking story!

and had it happened in Europe, the thief's family would probably be suing the government and the power company for damages for not properly securing the poles or for other bullshit reasons.

my guess is that he cut the wrong wire. seriously though it shows the plight

of some people in Thailand.

Not exactly the brightest of sparks...

one Thai who was earthed

Where did the blanket come from? Supplied by the police and medics,

"The body was covered in black burns ..............."

Caused by the high voltage .
