BANGKOK, 17 January 2017 (NNT) - Prime Minister’s Office Minister Omsin Cheewapreuk has instructed the Public Relations Department (PRD) to urgently switch from analog to digital TV broadcasting. The minister also expressed his readiness to support the law to allow the NBT station to generate revenue from advertising.

The minister on Monday visited the PRD and was welcomed by Permanent Secretary to the PM’s Office Chirachai Moonthongroi and acting PRD Director-General Lt.Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd. It was the first time that Mr. Omsin traveled to the PRD to deliver policy after he took office.

The PRD is one of the government units under the supervision of the minister.

The minister said he advised the department increase its communication channels to reach all groups of people in all areas and help them receive information from the government. He suggested that the department have interesting presentation that meets people’s needs and work in coordination with foreign media agencies more.

The minister emphasized the NBT’s transformation into digital in order to increase its competitiveness. He added that the NBT would be allowed to generate revenue from advertising but the station would not focus on dramas or game shows.
