BANGKOK, 17 January 2017 (NNT) – The Minister of Transport has assigned Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Company Limited (AEROTHAI) to help raise the standard of Thai aviation, targeting to enable the country to accommodate up to 2.7 million flights annually in the next 15 years.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith met with executives of AEROTHAI in order to follow up on the company’s undertakings and give them his policy guideline on the overhaul of the Thai aviation industry, with an aim of achieving an increase of 9-10 percent in air traffic each year. The minister stated that, in 2016, there were 909,000 flights operated in and out of Thailand and the figure is projected to reach one million this year and two million in 2027.

According to Ms Sarinee Angsusingha, President of AEROTHAI, the company has a plan to invest over 14 billion baht in the modernization of air traffic management systems within this year. Cooperation is also being made with the United Kingdom to use its Heathrow Airport as a model for developing Thai airports.

Moreover, AEROTHAI is striving to upgrade personnel and equipment in a bid to minimize flight delays and boost the country’s capacity to 2.7 million flights per year by 2032.

It is a Thai company NOT Thai Government. Who is clever then?  :whistling:

I never hear good news about Heathrow, Changi is the best one i've ever seen.

By 2017 mass tourism will be a distant memory.
