BANGKOK: -- PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed authorities to conduct comprehensive surveys of the southern flood damage so that effective rehabilitation measures can be taken.

“The prime minister has issued the order out of concern for the flood victims,” Chatchai Promlert, director-general of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said yesterday.

This year’s extreme storms have left 12 provinces underwater and more than 1.6 million people in distress while being blamed for at least 36 deaths.

PM’s Office Minister Ormsin Chivapruck said the government would pay Bt50,000 to each of the families of those who lost their lives.

After the survey comes the commission.

Once the survey is complete the flood level will subside.

Victory!!

After the survey is done, a little 44 and a great news:

Prayut orders flood to recede...

while i sympathize  with the families involved i fail to see what a survey

will do. this will take a long time to evaluate, and in the meantime the

families need urgent help. I wonder if Prayut and all the Hi So people were in

the same situation how long and how much compensation would they get,

If anything, he does not care one iota about the flood victims. Everything he has done to date, since assuming the office, has shown him to be indifferent, callous, out of touch, and totally unconcerned about the masses, and the non wealthy members of the Thai population. When is the last time he has established anything in the way of a populist policy? What about the so called fight against corruption? What about his promises to clean up the police? What about his promises to go after corrupt officials? Why has not a single current official of any rank or importance not been arrested? What about traffic safety? Why has nothing been done?

If you really did care about your people, the more common ones, that is, you would do something to protect them. Constant jawboning, and no action makes Johnny a very dull boy.
