Govt plans to buy Chinese submarine this year: Prawit

Build them here, keep the money in the country.  They won't be any good and of no use anyway.

What neighboring countries have them?  Laos? Cambodia? Myanmar?

China?

Be certain that the design and build of this Chinese underwaterboat will make it quite unsuitable against Chinese ships, under water on on the water.

Malaysia bought one or two that are inoperable, I think because of local incompetence.

Other countries in the region with submarines are  - Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia and China.

Of those the most likely to be seeking to expand territory would be China.

Made in China? Dang thing will probably sink.

Yes or build a proper watersystem to stop the floodings/droughts.....

Silly me, given recent events (& ongoing) I thought that they would be investing in public transportation and even thinking of buying school buses, so the kids have a degree of safety while traveling!

Never mind - prioritize - I will sleep safely knowing the seas around Thailand are secured!

Unbelievable stupidity.

Depends which side of the cheque book you're on!

For some it will be the most lucrative thing they have ever done.

Thailand is wasting money 13 billion bhat to help China to spy other countries in the world.

It is waste of money investing such resources if there are no threat or disputes to Thai borders with neighboring country.

Just China is expanding it is border up to Thailand.

They better put an order in for a rescue vessel,as the regularity

with which they lose helicopters  and planes, they may need one.

All sorted

"ATLAS ELEKTRONIK to deliver Bow and Towed Sonar systems for new Royal Thai Navy frigate

The system is therefore not only ideal for hunting submarines"

sub·merge
səbˈmərj/
verb
gerund or present participle: submerging
  1. cause to be under water.
"houses had been flooded and cars submerged"
    synonyms: flood, inundate, deluge, swamp
    "the farmland was submerged"
    • descend below the surface of an area of water.
"the U-boat had had time to submerge"
synonyms: go under water, dive, sink
      "the U-boat submerged"

I think surfacing might be the issue here.

I think the Junta realizes that age-old maxim: You have to spend money to make money.

Yuanclass

What ... as opposed to the US Dollarclass or the UK Poundclass submarines?

if Thailand built its own submarine will it be the Bahtclass?

Should Thiland buy this submarine it should be reclassified as the Ridiculousclass.

It will help protect sovereignty as well as explore marine resource in Andaman sea,

Exploration of marine resources is usually done with SHIPS and SUBMERSIBLES ... not with 13 billion baht manned submarine warships.

They learned to ask for 6% accept 5% everybody happy right TIT

Economic stimulus.

Thailand used to have submarines until the '60s.

Close, 1951. After RTN sub-mariners staged an unsuccessful counter-coup, Manhattan Rebellion, all subs were decommissioned, long story/history, most of which cannot be discussed.

Cannot express how much it pleases me the rare occasions when I see there are TV members who know something about the country.

Chinese ;     We need to fine some "Idiots" to buy are submarines, let's see?.....I know!....let's call Thailand!

If it sinks, it won't be difficult to find. Just ask the Chinese Navy as they will be tracking its every move from day one.

We all live in a yellow submarine yellow submarine yellow submarine. What a waste of Baaah t

So if you're driving and sink one of these tubs, do you, posthumously of course, become a rear admiral?

I stand corrected! not a lot of benefits in getting old are there!  :shock1:

Quite a number - this Prawit guy. Dusting off the old money spinner of his predecessors.

Same story seems to resurface regularly in +/- 10 years interval. Last time the Swedish front offered a deal of one new sub - then the Germans came in and said they would supply one brand new sub AND a second-hand sub free of charge for training purposes. The government did not last long enough to ink the paperwork.

See the billions of Baht clearly wasted in bright daylight at Sattahip; where HTMS Chakri Naruebet has been moored, thanks to plenty of barnacle support, for 20 years. Twice or three times floated for "relief" operations and a yearly venue on Children's Day (2nd Saturday in January).

It's scandalous but it proves that the public does not care or is simply too stupid to understand what happens with their tax money.

But one never knows, maybe deep river submarine ports are to follow in Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom and Kentao to fight the marine attack to be expected anytime soon by the Thais Northeastern neighbours - the Vietnamese who shoulder carry their subs across the mountains to float them in the Mekong ...........

Maybe instead spend the money on Mobile Homes -Caravan Park or 50 and put those on the aircraft carrier MTHS Kikiat, instead of planes they can't afford... Morons under Chinas Watch

The only thing I can think they want them for is people smuggling as they got caught with the surface vessels, they will probably sink them in 3 months, dive dive dive and leave the hatches open for fresh air

Repair the god dam roads first mr PM and get water and electricity to those who have not got any might be a better idea

And make sure , not to Educate Isaan...keep em Stupid...

“The Thai Navy requires the submarines to maintain military balance in the region because other neighbouring countries already have them.

Including the Chinese, who would be most unaccommodating were the Thai navy to have the temerity to challenge their navy.

Presumably, the tin opener will be complimentary - and complementary.

all the other countries have them, if we dont get one we will lose face

Should be called stingray class: they could get stuck in the muddy bottoms of the gulf?

I wonder what The UK Bookies odds are using the data of length of  time under water to number of fatalities on the boat ?
