BOI Company with 2 year work permit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just been granted a 3 month non immigration b visa. The company i've applied for is a BOI company. I was a little afraid during the visa process because on the letter to the immigration dept they said that my duration of employment was 2 years, however the employment contract i've signed says it is open ended and permanent and that I may resign with one pay period notice - I only intend on staying with these guys max 1 year anyway so this is very important I don't sign into something I can't get out of.

I assume the 2 years duration is just for the work permit to say up to 2 years? is this correct? and doesn't actually imply that I must fullfill 2 years with these guys. So will I get a 2 year work permit and a 1 year non immigration b visa extension when i'm there with no obligation to renew my non immigration b visa after a year if I decide to resign or can even resign before then?

The work permit does not bind you to anything. It is just a 2 year work permit.

You can resign when ever you want to as per the contract.

"One paid period" normally means one month, unless you have an unusual payment arrangement. This normally works both ways for the employer and employee
