Former THAI executive seeks PM’s hand in probing Rolls Royce’s bribery scandal

BANGKOK: -- Former senior pilot and executive of Thai Airways Internatiinal (THAI) yesterday formally petitioned Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha seeking his hands in ordering the investigation into the Rolls Royce's bribery scam.

 

Captain Yothin Pamornmontri, a former vice president of THAI, the national carrier, was accompanied by a delegation of the Anti Corruption Organisation Thailand to Government House to submit a document to the prime minister.

 

In the letter, the former THAI executive asked the prime minister to investigate allegations of graft within the company in particular those involving the purchase of a fleet of 10 Airbus planes of Airbus 340 500 and Airbus 340 – 600.

 

He said all Airbus aircraft that were purchased was valued at 55 billion baht and all of which were equipped with Rolls Royce engines.

I may be wrong but it looks like a smart  dual move:

Move 1: try to find a way to avoid investigating the case proven by the British investigators, because it would involve "good people"

Move 2: launch an investigation on a case which has not been found by investigators in UK in order to distract attention and pretend to fight corruption.

The "independent NACC" must be seriously worried because they just launched another enquiry on a purchase of CCTV cameras for the parliament that was judged in the US in 2012. An additional attempt to distract attention.
