400000 Baht in bank for 3 month

Featured Replies

Hi

Today Immigration told me that because I have lived in Thailand for 5 years I now need to have 400000  Baht in the bank for 3 month instead of 2 Month ???
(I extend based on marrige)

Is this a new law or was she just annoyed that I did not offer her tea-money ?

:jap:

The requirement is 2 months for every extension. It does not matter if it is the  first or fifth extension.

Which office was this at?

Kanchannaburi....

Upcountry thais can be difficult some times

I am only aware of a couple of rogue offices that have wanted it to be 3 months and that was for the 2nd extension onwards. They were applying  the same rule as for retirement extensions.

The police order clearly states 2 months for every extension.

I  check the english and that police order No 777/2551.

It clearly say 2 month..

but until 2008 it was 3 month...

Well we can not demand that the immigration officers keep up to date about the law :cheesy:

Lucky for me it also say 2 month :-)

The rule is 2 months.

I have been using the Lopburi  office ,ever since it has been open ,and the money  has  always  been 3 months  for  400 000 Baht ,   last year fist year of  retirement  extension,  800 000 Baht  , 3 months  .

Before the Lopburi  office opened ,   for 18 months  we had to use the  Ayutthaya  office (is it still open?), and they said  3 months  for 400 000 Baht.

I did say  once at the Lopburi  about money being in the bank for 2 months ,they  just said  3 months  here.

Samui immigration has required from me a 3 month 400k bank balance for many years.

The national requirement is 2 months.

This officer is new in gaan with very dark skin so she could easy be transfered from samui.....

Newer mind ..

I will show the law to her boss.. he is a very nice man :-)

P.S
I newer had any problems with immigration in gaan before..
They are normally nice

Immigration finally  accepted 2 month after a lot of phone calls.

They explained that it was a misunderstanding since I went to early to renew my visa...

Anyway no-body lose face and I had a happy ending....
(Not that kind of happy ending....  )

Conclusion:

The 2 month must be 2 month before you apply.
Not 2 month before your visa expire..

So I will just go back a little later....
