If you are married, show the marriage certificate and a copy of her Thai ID to get the "O" visa.

Until you are married all you will obtain from the Royal Thai Consulate in LA (the Embassy is in Washington, DC) will be a tourist visa I suspect.

Have you obtained the paper from the US Embassy for marriage? If yes have you translated and had it registered at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? If yes the registration of marriage is only a 20 minute process at any District Office if wife has her paperwork in order. Most people are able to complete the entire process in 2 or 3 days without outside help.

The visa you heard about would be a multi entry non immigrant O visa which allows entry for up to 90 days and you can use it for one year from date of issue as many times as you like. Not all Consulates will issue however, and very few in the area of Thailand. The expectation being that you will either be taking your wife to your home country or moving to Thailand and extending your stay on a yearly basis with proof of 40k baht monthly income. So many Consulates will issue a single entry non immigrant O visa that they expect you will extend inside Thailand. If you require the multi entry you might find using an honorary type Consulate in your home country to be the best place to obtain.

Thank you for the responce. We are at the point of District Office, and me wanting to stay much longer then 30 days at a time.. Going back to Thailand Jan 3rd..Anyone have a idea what i should do after we finish the legal.

Get a job? Get a non immigrant visa? What exactly are your plans other than "getting married"?

The first step would probably involved going to a Consulate to obtain a non immigrant visa if you plan to remain in Thailand. If you have a bank account with 400k you may be able to change visa status inside Thailand also. If you plan to take wife out of Thailand you would be interested in immigrant visa for her. So there are a number of paths depending on your circumstances.
