Hey guys, another question regarding the TM28.

Do I need to submit this if my TM6 arrival card states the correct address I am staying at?

My girlfriend has submitted a TM30 at the local police station already, with the same address as my TM6 card.

In this instance, if I don't officially leave the address for more that 24 hours (ie: go to a hotel who would/should submit a TM30), is it required at all?

No need to do a TM28 unless you change addresses.

Unless you need to do something at immigration even a TM30 form will not be needed.

And if I want to get an extension when this visa runs out? Then I will need to visit immigration, what will they say?

You would show them the receipt for the TM30 form your girl friend did at the police station if asked for it. But they may not accept one from a police station since they would have no record of it being done.

I have wondered about submitting it at the police station. The first time we did it they had never seen one before.

The document clearly states it can be submitted at the police station in your area. They do fill out the receipt but they give the entire document back, they didnt copy it at all so I wondered what happened from there. They also fill out a report in their log book which they give us a copy as well.

So I have the entire TM30 with the receipt filled in and signed by the police officer, as well as the "police report", but after that I can only assume nothing gets sent to the immigration dept...

If they have given you the whole thing back then nothing has been filed. I doubt they even knew what it was.

Immigration and most police stations consider area to be within the province. Very few provinces don't have a immigration office now.

You could take the form with you and immigration might accept it.

Pretty much as expected.

The last time we tried to do an official TM30 at the immigration we had all sorts of issues with my girlfriend not being the "house master". She is renting a townhouse but has no official documentation, its a word of mouth thing, as most of the agreements are in these village areas. She has been there about 2 years already. Its not in BKK or a major city, just a local village area (Sung Noen).

Because of this, her ID and House Book show a different address, which in turn creates dramas at immigration...

Surely other people have had similar instances? I know a lot of Thais dont update their house book to their rental address, and some can move around a lot. For many years my girlfriend was still registered in Kalasin where she actually grew up and is where he mother lives. She recently got her house book moved to a closer address where her aunt lives as it is in the Korat area.

It does however make this whole TM30/TM28 this quite difficult...

I went to Jomtien immigration today to report my change of address. Brought both the TM28 and TM30 properly filled (by me and by the landlord respectively), along with copies of my passport, landlord ID and contract.

They took the TM30, and put the bottom part (they filled) in my passport.

I asked them twice about the TM28 and they say it wasn't needed. Am I ok?

I live and work here, staying on a marriage extension

You should be OK.

The TM30 form has almost the same info on it as the TM28. I assume they changed your address in their database.
