Will the bank replace a damaged bank note?

Got landed with a 100฿ bill with a 1/4 part missing, looks like it's been folded once too often

In the real world as long as you have more that 50% of a note it will be replaced, but in LOS you never know. Don't want to be accused of defacing and/or disrespecting local culture or even fall foul Lese Majeste. :shock1:

Find a bank where there is someone working with some common sense and it will be replaced...but even then they may have to go to two other people more senior then themselves to get the nod... but, they may well not have any common sense whatsoever, as it is in very short supply here !

When i used to be in and out of the country on a regular basis and changing Sterling into Baht, if the girls saw a pencil or pen mark or any other mark/tear etc on my Sterling notes they would throw them back at me saying 'dirty' or 'disrespect' and i would give them another.  Then they would give me filthy Baht notes way past exchange time in return, so after that happened once i started throwing them back saying 'dirty' or 'disrespect'.  Of course; it wasn't long before a Manager came out and complained that i was upsetting his staff, so i said to him perhaps if you taught your staff a little common sense such things would never happen.  He looked baffled and said ''What is common sense ?''   At that point i smiled sweetly and left, never to return to that bank again.

I'm sure they missed you and your attitude. When somebody throws money at you it does not come out of nowhere.

I think just about everyone has had when trying to exchange foreign currency.

Didn't fancy tramping round several banks trying to find one that would change the note for me, but just in case it was possible thought to ask here first just in case someone had done it.

Maybe I'll just pin it on the wall to remind myself to be more careful in the future when accepting a fistful of change.

Definitely not worth all the hassle for the sake of around 3 USD, I think!
