Permanent residency

Featured Replies

Hello Seniors,

I need your help to understand the process for the PR for my son.

He had applied in 2016 and has since been approved however his visa has already expired since September since he turned 20 years last year.

Does he need to get a Non O visa to enter thailand or come on a tourist visa to collect the same, Could you please urgently guide me on this it will be most appreciated as the embassy says tourist visa is good enough but the immigration needs a non 0 stamped.

Thanks

Zam

Hi, when you apply, don't you get the name and number of the immigration official who is in charge of processing the application? I think you do. You or your son should call them for the best advice about what to do.

The officer has informed that you need to apply for non o visa with the Thai embassy however the officer in the embassy is saying tourist should be fine, there is no clear paperwork which shows this I guess and have asked her for the same.

Lets see what happens as I am asking the officer to speak with the consular section or provide me a doc which allows this process.

If his PR is under consideration, the PR department should be able to give him a 6 month stamp until his PR is ready to pickup. Why would you need to apply for a new visa from elsewhere? I don't understad

He was told he can leave the country as he is studying abroad he did not do the 6 month stamping renewal as and when the PR is approved he can come back on a non o  visa and collect his book, this was confirmed by the senior immigration officer as the process.

His PR is approved and the letter has been issued by Immigration 1 already to collect the book.  The embassy has to issue the visa now thats the challenge.

if you have PR he can get a non-o visa on that basis to visit you. Or he could get one with proof his PR has been approved.

I'm interested in how a 20 year old qualifies for permanent residency?

Evilbaz--my son qualified as he lived here in Bangkok for 20 years since he was 6months old.

Based on my PR he was also granted the same.
