Sorry to burst your balloon, but saw the same numbers for the US house of reps.

BTW any prison time (or criminal conviction) make a person ineligible for becoming an MP, unless like Ms Hanson you are found not guilty on appeal.

As a matter of interest the Australian federal parliament has 226 political members (reps and senate), the number you quoted in the OP is related to the number of representatives in the US congress.
