Does Savanakhet consul need copy of Laos visa please

Featured Replies

Any recent experience please of required docs ar Royal Thai consul in Savannkhet Laos?

A friend said they need copy of Laos visa , it will be stamped in the passport so thay can see you have not entered illegaly?

I cannot see why, the need a foreign visa however if this is a requirement is there a copy shop near the consulate please

Yes a copy of the Laos entry stamp and visa is often asked for to show you're legally in Laos. There is a copy service outside the consulate.

Thanks for prompt reply I suppose the visa stamped into your passport for is insufficient !

I've been to Savannakhet twice and have never needed to provide a copy of Lao visa and entry stamp and I was just there in December. Don't see why a copy would be required considering the originals are in your passport which you have to provide to the Consulate.

I've been savannakhet more times than most and you DO NOT need copy of Lao visa at consulate, I never given them one and it not on required documents listed on consulate notice board when I looked 2 weeks ago .

Be sure all other docs are supplied as listed as they being super fussy with mainly tourists but hassle from that can make the staff bit hot headed in other applications if they just had a gobby tit throwing a fit as can't meet new setv doc requirements.

A baiting post has been removed.

I'm in favour of only giving the necessary, however I'm usually there for a few days prior and pick up a copy while riding about and keep it just in case.

I always find the guys outside consulates annoying, how much do they charge for a copy? 5B or something?

The Laos visa will be in the passport you submit. I have never supplied a copy although it may be required for a Tourist Visa. I wouldnt think so.

I recently obtained an SETV at Savannakhet. No copy of the Laos visa or entry stamp was required.

I didn't hand one in but had a copy just in case same as updated Kor ror 2.

I hand in only the documents listed on there board on the day.

But it doesn't harm to have copies of other things ready you never know.

Those saying why it's in the passport correct it is but so is your face page they still want a copy.

Long way to go and get turned away over a copy.

What is there an amphur 10 yds over the road to get an updated Kor ror 2?.

Always better to be safe than sorry. Got to the stage now I put all photo copies of everything I also scan the lot onto computer so I can access it via phone just in case.

While making effort cover all doc options that can only easily get/prepare in thailand and being well organised such as digital copy on phone which is excellent approach and also what I do it not really linked well to this posts question.

A copy of the lao visa and entry stamp could only be done once in Laos and secondly it is NOT requirement currently or for over 3 years I done random visas at savvanakhet consulate so currently it a waste of concern and precious paper if do make a copy, secondly if ever did get asked for it indeed you could resolve that in minutes at any of the copy shop facilities up the road towards bus station or directly opposite consulate at the street bench copy facilities no drama .

While going prepared is great I see no point making work & worry for yourself once in laos making a copy of something that not needed .

Yes and it then headed to other documents. When you read posts about this subject usually 1 or 2 a month other posters mention things they say they needed better to go prepared one thinks.

They not needed and never have been. Same as people say if you print your own savannakhet application from pdf file it must be double sided (duplex print) you don't, only main form side needed . Worry ans focus about the docs that can't be resolved within laos and are needed.

Good idea is a quick phone photo of lao visa and your ID page as you won't have passport for over 24hrs and keeping your lao departure card safe as see few people loose that if left in passport when handed in. Also good keep forms neat and tidy, seen few usual half drunk gobby idiots with paperwork that looked like 5yr old filled it out then filed it in a MacDonalds trash can, thai officials soon get pissy over things like that plus the form quality reflects your quality and compitence to them. Smart appearance and polite manner get you further than a unneeded lao visa photocopy.

Keep it simple/efficient, do your own due diligence and it no drama and super simple .
