PEOPLE ACROSS the country are preparing to welcome the country’s new Supreme Patriarch at his official ordination ceremony today, with a former disciple of Somdet Phra Ariyawongsakhatayan (Ambhorn Ambharo) labelling him the perfect choice to lead Thai Buddhists.

The sacred appointment ceremony for the new Supreme Patriarch will be held today at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha– confirming Somdet Phra Ariyawongsakhatayan, the abbot of Ratchabophit Sathitmahasimaram Temple, as the 20th Supreme Patriarch of the Rattanakosin Era (since 1782).

Well both faiths make use of incense in their respective lliturgies, which I will agree does smell or "reek" a bit.

Other than that, I've just gone through The Apostle's Creed, which summarises the Catholic beliefs, and no, I'm sorry, but I can't see any similarity.

It's a very difficult subject to talk about. I would like to add some news links from international media on this subject but I'm afraid they might be against forum rules on LM.

All I can say is the monk who was chosen to be the next Supreme Patriarch by traditional means via a council of leading abbots had links to the UFO scandal ridden temple in Pathum Thani province. Which is linked to Thaksin. This delayed the endorsing of the next Supreme Patriarch.

The PM gave a list of what he and others thought should be the next Supreme Patriarch to be endorced.

Pls note I don't know the process on how the PM came up with nominations for Supreme Patriarch.

The powers that be endorsed the new Supreme Patriarch.
