BANGKOK: -- Valentine's Day was observed today with Bangkok and various provinces across the country holding activities to celebrate the  day of love.

In Bangkok, all its 50 districts turned lively when they open their offices to allow couples to register their marriages legally with presents offered to each registered couple.

But the most popular district that attracted couples most to register their marriages is Bang Rak which means the ” Village of Love” .

By late this morning after office opening at 5 am today over 300 couples thronged the district office to register their marriage. Some couples came even before day break with hope to be the first couple to register as to be the first will entitle them for a gold coated marriage registration certificate plus other gifts and incentives.

All registered couples will receive souvenirs as a remembrance of this special day.

First to register at Bang Rak are Miss Montraporn Tangvipatkul and Mr Apipol Ruaychart from Samut Sakhon province.

Both said they left home in Samut Sakhon before daybreak just to have their marriage registered at the Village of Love.

Meanwhile over 20 couples of both Thais and foreigners took part  in the Under the Sea Wedding Ceremony 2017 today  in Trang province in the South.
