YASOTHORN: -- A touching story of love between a 64 year old Thai security guard and a handicapped lady who cannot walk has captivated the hearts of the Thai public.

Bancha Sabuntham from Bangkok married Jaroonsri Srimanta, 37, in a ceremony in Yasothorn yesterday. It was supposed to be on Valentine's Day but Bancha couldn't get time off from his guard's job at a university in Ayuthaya, reported Sanook.

The couple met 11 years ago. Bancha had been married and had three grown up children but had then split up from his wife. He had been flirting with another woman but found out she already had a husband.

Enter Jaroonsri who went to apply for work at the same place. She sympathized with Bancha's disappointment and mutual respect soon turned to love for the couple despite the age difference and her physical handicap.

Jaroonsri was born without handicap but when she was nine years old her legs and arms did not continue to grow properly and she had to use a wheelchair. She can't walk to this day.

The wedding ceremony was organized for the couple by a group of kind lady boys called Nang Fa Salon (Salon Angels) based in Ayuthaya. They sourced the costumes for the bride and groom and did their makeup free of charge.

The man in the red dress in our picture is called Goffy and is well known for his charity work and TV appearances and lives in the Hua Hin area.

The wedding had all the trappings of a traditional Thai affair with a dowry of 999 baht and a one baht weight gold necklace.

The story was shared almost 64,000 on Thai social media by yesterday.

What past history? He was married once before, so what?

Mean of the university to not give the old boy the day off for his wedding.

Gawd! For the moment there I thought that this was a scene shot from the latests sets for the sequel to American Horror, shot in Thailand with a Thai satire!

A lot of comment full of shit here.

Life did not teach yet a real lesson to many of you, people.

Shame of you! Wish the couple a life full of joys.

Couldn't agree more! Can't believe still so many low-life-creatures posting on this Forum.

I wish them luck and a long life (the newly-wed couple, not the low-life-creatures)
