The extension of my Non-Immigrant O based on being >60 will expire by the end of this month. However, I need another 2 months in LOS to see to some matters before I travel back

to Europe by the end of April, where I intend to apply for a Non Imm O-A (retirement)  at the Thai Embassy in my home country.

Can I travel to, say,  Vientiane just before the end of this month and apply for a SETV to bridge this 2-month period?

Yes you can.

Also, if you are from a country that qualifies for visa exempt entry you could exit and immediately return, and would be given 30 days that can be extended by another 30 days at your local immigration office for 1,900 baht.

If you have a Thai spouse or child you can get a 60 day extension at immigration for 1,900 baht.
