The government plans to raise a huge fund from the public to kick start its mega transportation project in the second quarter of this year.

The fund mobilisation under what it calls Thailand Future Fund which has been long delayed expects to raise no less than 50 billion baht in the first start.

Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the director general of the State Enterprises Policy Office (Sepo), said the fund raising was part of the government’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) plan to increase investments in major transportation infrastructure in the country.

He said 20% of the investment will come from the national budget and from loans which will result in an increase in public debt.

Am I right in thinking this is similar to the old War Bond idea?

Why not sell the aircraft carrier you never use and scrap the submarine plan and use that money instead of plunging the country into huge debt. Also stop paying family members and mates for jobs they never do.

mega transportation project

Is that the exodus of Farangs fed up with paying over the top for everything policy?

Huge fund from the public? Does that mean a lot of poor farmers are going to have to contribute to the 50 billion?

As long as they drive big new pickuptrucks they are not poor in my book so can pay like any other person.

And off course you see all the farmers everywhere and everyone have a Big New Pick-Up Truck. Information for you is that you are only seeing a fraction  of the farmers, and not even all there have a Big New Pick-Up Truck. Only a fraction there too. Posting like that, you are only using that as a poor an uneducated way to make something more visible and true than it is. I guess you don´t even have a book, and just post whatever might be on your mind.

Nothing better than knowing the trough will be full in the future. Snouts are wiggling happily.

Running out of money, are we? Not surprised given the billions upon billions thrown around by this his so-called government the last 2 years! But not enough money left now for health care, so gotta make cuts. Very nice, very nice, Mr. PM.
