Hello,

Few years ago I applied for Residence Certificate on Chonburi-Jomtien Immigration, it was easy, even without proof, they just asking the hotel I am saying ( the hotel card was enough ) and the number room, that was all. I think it's not work anymore ?

Seems as now, it's more complicated, they're still asking proof, rent bills, etc.. but like one hotel I've stayed, they're not willing to make a statement like I rent in their hotel, but even I am not sure if it will work.

Actually I need to renew my Thai Driving Licence, but the problem is that I didn't have the Residence Certificate. I don't know where it's much easy to get it, because I can't provide anything like work permit, TOT/Electricity/Water bills, I don't have tabian baan, as I am not renting any condo, I am only staying at the hotel and move around Thailand..

Sold a motorbike last week. I told the guy to bring his hotel receipt to Soi 5 and get his cert to put his name on the log book. He did so with no problem and we got it all done the same day.

Immigration told him by rights he sould be staying at the hotel for at least 3 days but they overlooked it anyway. He had only booked in for one night.

You can go to the American embassy if you are an American and get the proof of address. They don't ask for any proof just that you swear the information is correct. But it is a little expensive, $50.

I renewed my 5 year bike licence last November and got a Residence Certificate at Jomtien, I took my receipt from my apartment with me and had no problems even though I only had a 30 day visa-free entry in my passport. A very pleasant lady on the counter.

Note if you DONT have a non-immigrant visa when you renew then you will only get a licence for 2 years but you dont have to answer the computer questions or do a driving test.

I went yesterday, 20th February, to Immigration Jomtien to get a Certificate of Residence.

I also thought to just walk in and get one but no more.

You have to fill in a questionaire with reason why you want one.

Copy of first page passport.

Copy of visa or retirement extension.

Proof of adres where your staying. All this will be checked at the front desk who will than give you a numbered ticket for desk 9.

Sit down and wait for your number to be called.

The lady behind the desk checks again your pasport and all papers.

My pasport got checked by another officer on a computer against my track record of visas because she was not sure what date I entered Thailand.

Got a number and twenty minute wait, got called and she handed me the Certificate which is just a A4 with your name, addres and, of all things, your age.

That's it, good luck.
