Once you start the building watch like a hawk - every little detail!!

Make sure you can read the drawing, and don't be afraid to go and measure

to make sure the building matches the drawing.

At the first deviation from plan, call the head builder and ask why.

If he cannot follow the plan you need a new builder!!

It'll be easier if you establish what he knows or doesn't know before the building starts. If you are not savvy pay an architect or engineer to meet with the contractor

Your words are so true. I have only been on the fringe of two building projects in Bangkok.

Having come from a family of builders I don't miss much.

We have a guy who my wife went to school with who speaks English and has done some fairly large projects around Bangkok.

I've seen some of his completed jobs and my wife has spoken with the owners.

His work appears to be top quality.
