Proof of income

I was at the Australian Embassy yesterday to get my Statutory Declaration notarized regarding income for my 12 month retirement extension. The lady at the counter asked did I have proof of the income as Thai Immigration might ask for proof as well as the Statutory Declaration.

Last year they never asked for proof...just the letter/ Stat Dec and no where can I find proof being required as well as the Letter from my Embassy.....has anyone recently been asked for proof as well or is this a general try and scare away some from abusing this avenue.

If needed I can show proof that I can have that amount of pension payment but would rather not go through the hassle of getting bank records and letters from Superannuation Pension provider etc if not needed.
