webfact Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Transport minister holds talk with airlines' executives on ICAO’s Red Flag status BANGKOK, 23 February 2017 (NNT) – Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith held talk with executive officials of 15 Thai airlines in bid to remove Thai aviation industry from the Red Flag status imposed by the International Civil Aviation Organization. The transport minister explained the new certification protocol and received input from the delegates of the airlines before the Ministry of Transport requests the ICAO to conduct security inspections on 30 June 2017. The scheduled inspection for security concerns will look into 33 areas of Thailand's aviation industry. The country hopes to be removed from the ICAO’s Red Flag list, and has received cooperation from all airlines so far. The minister said a civil aviation bill is being finalized and will be promulgated soon, adding that it will likely boost the ICAO’s confidence in Thai aviation industry. -- nnt 2017-02-23
bangon04 Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 " The minister said a civil aviation bill is being finalized and will be promulgated soon, adding that it will likely boost the ICAO’s confidence in Thai aviation industry. " Yes and if that doesn't work we will need to form a new committee. As a last resort we could employ outside quality control experts....oh wait....

I doubt ICAO will be much impressed by anything short of verifiable results. Lots of cans routinely get kicked down the road with grand pronouncements and "crackdowns", but I doubt this will be one of them.
